Now on their 13th year as one of Philippines most prolific dance groups, the Pilyoz Dancing Statues is set to embark on a new phase of a journey that is Pioneering, Ingenious, Lavish, Youthful, Outstanding, and Zany. Those aforementioned words best capture the essence behind this one of a kind crew. And those same words serve as their drive in further honing their expertise.
Pioneering- Although living statue performers or mime artists have already been part of Europe’s entertainment culture for as early as the 1940’s, it was only back in 2003 when this unique art form reached the Philippine shore. That can be credited to the emergence of Pilyoz who presented a novel kind of entertainment for the Filipino audience.
Ingenious- Aside from mime and living statue performances, Pilyoz also showcases dance routines that incorporate traditional, modern, and novelty-inspired choreography. Such flexibility in terms of skills only exemplifies the group’s threshold when it comes to creativity.
