New Tottenham Singers

We are a non-audition choir based in North London, open to all, which aims to unite and represent the wider community through a joy of singing.

About

NTS has over sixty singers rehearsing each week and the main focus in rehearsals is preparation for performances. These performances can take the form of concerts and appearances in festivals and other events in the local community and the North London area.

The choir’s Musical Director is Tottenham resident, Tom Fowkes. Tom is responsible for training us and selecting our repertoire. Ann Carey acts as Assistant Musical Director and she assists Tom by helping him to select the repertoire, taking sectionals and accompanying the choir in rehearsals and performances. We are fortunate to have many supportive members who help with other tasks involved in the day-to-day running of the choir.

We aim to provide enjoyable and rewarding rehearsals which nurture and develop talent in addition to providing a unified, inclusive and vibrant social experience.
We are proud to actively and positively represent Tottenham throughout Haringey, the wider North London area and nationally. In addition to large concerts such as the Broadway-inspired Christmas and All of That Jazz in December 2013 and Mozart’s Requiem in April 2014, alongside other regular appearances locally, we performed John Rutter’s Gloria at St Michael’s, Camden Town in December 2012, opened a Lecture Series with an inaugural concert at St Pancras Old Church in March 2013 and sang Evensong at Merton College Chapel, Oxford in June 2014 at the invitation of the Chaplain to celebrate the college’s 750th Anniversary. We are passionate about our local community and have developed a special relationship with the London Borough of Haringey’s Music and Performing Arts Service, with whose orchestra and other ensembles we regularly collaborate.

The New Tottenham Singers are always happy to welcome new members of any age or musical experience. You will not be asked to audition, and Tom or Ann can help you choose the correct section (Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass) for your voice if you are not sure. There is no requirement to be a Tottenham resident!

New members can join us at any time without any prior arrangement, but if you would like further information, you can email info@tottenhamsingers.com, call our Secretary, Richard, on 07587 415658, or otherwise just come along on a Tuesday and see what we do!

We rehearse at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Tottenham, London N15 4RX from 7.30pm – 9.30pm on Tuesdays during school term times.
