On Saturday 30th June 2018 the Bury Folk Festival will attract music lovers for a fourth year. For this family fun day of music we are pleased to have again been able to secure the venue in the delightful walled garden in Bury St Edmunds’ Nowton Park.

There will be music from 10am to 9:30pm on Saturday with the main stage starting at midday with an excellent mix of traditional and contemporary acts to suit all tastes.
Gavin Mitchell, one of the organisers, said, “I thought the last three festivals supplied some of the very best musicians around and this year is looking even better. You pay more for many one act concerts and this is a whole day”

During the day you can enjoy a range of locally sourced food, coffee, craft stalls, a bar serving local real ales and even ice cream on a bicycle. We also have the return of the very popular Acoustic Tent where you can relax and listen to music, join in on one of the informal sessions or learn some new skills at a workshop.

Children’s entertainment will be provided and new for this year, a competition for local schools to design a Bury St Edmunds themed scarecrow. This will be judged during the day and festival-goers can vote for their favourite scarecrow. The winning school will receive a voucher from top local music shop Balaams.

This laid-back intimate one-day festival, providing fabulous entertainment, from morning until night, costs just £15 for adults, half price for children and free for under 5s. So come along for a fantastic day of music in a relaxed and beautiful setting. Says Gavin, “If you think you don’t like folk music then try this magical event and you may change your mind”.

The festival is part of Bury Folk Collective, a not-for-profit folk music club that promotes a diverse range of excellent local folk acts at events throughout the year.
