Muse presented with award for record-breaking crowds at The O2

Superstar rockers Muse made history on Friday when they played to a record-breaking 21,000 fans at The O2. The unique “in-the-round” staging for the Drones World Tour saw the band perform from the middle of the arena and combined with a new seating capacity for Friday’s show, meant a new record could be set.

Muse were awarded with a specially commissioned illustration to mark the band becoming the first act ever to achieve such an astounding attendance.

The stage design and configuration gave fans a truly immersive audio-visual sensory experience. To celebrate the record-breaking number of fans, O2 captured a 360° photo of all those in attendance, using gigapixel technology – the first ever time this technology has been used at The O2. Capturing over 600 images of gig goers in less than ten minutes, the multibillion pixel image of the crowd allows fans to zoom in, find themselves and generate a unique selfie from the night.
