John Shuttleworth’s alter-ego heads to Scarborough
Graham Fellows to star at Coastival 2018
The man behind Jilted John and John Shuttleworth is coming to Scarborough.
Organisers of the next Coastival arts festival in Scarborough have announced that Graham Fellows will be a star attraction at the event.
Graham will perform a new show, “Completely out of Character” at Scarborough Spa Theatre on February 10th at 8pm.
The show will be part of Coastival 2018 – ‘The Light Fantastic’ which runs from 9th to 11th February.
Graham has been the alter-ego of radio and TV comedy creation John Shuttleworth for more than 25 years. He was also Jilted John, singer of the hit song of the same name, in 1978.
For his Coastival show, Graham will step out from behind Shuttleworth’s keyboard to sing his own brand of “revelatory, humorous and quirky still, sometimes sad” songs.
He will talk about Shuttleworth as well as his other comic characters, plus his pivotal acting role on Coronation Street, and becoming a teenage pop star as Jilted John.
He promises to share the tale of the night jazz legend, George Melly broke into Graham's bedsit, and of the time he bought a packet of bread sauce with a famous Hollywood actor, poignantly recalled in the ballad, 'Mark Rylance Was My Lodger'.

February’s Coastival will be a celebration of light and movement.
Organisers are putting together a programme which will feature music, visual arts, theatre, dance and comedy across the three days of the annual festival.
More details will be unveiled in coming weeks.
Coastival director Wendy Holroyd said: “Graham is a great entertainer with a huge following, particularly for John Shuttleworth, and it is a great coup for Coastival to have him as part of our line-up for February.
“The programme for the next festival is coming together nicely and we look forward to announcing more exciting news in the coming weeks.”
