Happy Mondays Announced As Headline Act At Shiiine On Weekender 2017

Following their triumphant performance at the first Shiiine On Weekender in 2015, Happy Mondays will be returning to this year’s festival at Butlin’s Minehead arena from 10 th – 13th November 2017.

Returning to headline the renowned festival, Happy Mondays will join a legendary line-up including Levellers, Pop Will Eat Itself, Jim Bob (Carter USM) and The Woodentops in a celebration of the very best of 80s and 90s Indie and Dance.

With over 30 years at the top table of their genre, the era-defining Happy Mondays - Shaun Ryder, Mark Day, Paul Ryder, Gaz Whelan, Rowetta and Bez – will take to the stage to perform their classics hits including ‘Step on’.

Taking place in the Butlin’s Minehead arena, the Shiiine On Weekender is part of Butlin’s extensive Live Music programme, offering music lovers of all genres a full spectrum of events and festivals throughout the year.

Joining the line-up at Shiiine On, and making their third appearance at the festival, will be The Wonder Stuff. And back by popular demand are The Farm , the Liverpool band who stole the show at Shiiine On 2016 with an electric main stage set including an emotional rendition of ‘All Together Now’ on Remembrance Sunday.

The Wedding Present will be playing their 1987 classic album ‘George Best’ in full at a festival for the last time, and they’ll be joined on stage by Shiiine On debutants, Ian McNabb’s cult 80s outfit The Icicle Works.

In a rare UK festival appearance, pioneer of Electronic music Wolfgang Flür (ex Kraftwerk) will also be taking to the stage to perform his signature sound that made Kraftwork’s music so iconic.

On the dance stage, Freak Power will bring their acid jazz funk and soul live show to Shiiine On. The band, who scored a number three hit in 1995 with ‘Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out’, are set to be a big hit alongside big beat maestro Cut La Roc, who makes a welcome return to Minehead.

In another UK festival exclusive, Shiiine On is pleased to welcome Sultans of Ping FC, who shot to fame in the early 90s with their huge hits ‘Where's Me Jumper?’, ‘Stupid Kid’, and ‘Veronica’. The band is set to draw a massive crowd on what will be a very rare live outing.

Also joining the bill are Scottish heroes BMX bandits, who Kurt Cobain once claimed would be his band of choice if he could be in any other group. They also famously let Oasis support them on their first ever tour.

All Butlin’s Live Music Weekend packages include three nights’ accommodation, access to all bars and live music venues, live performances from big name acts as well as a stunning seaside location.
